It starts with a word
Or two, even a comment.
Then it unwinds as a cord.
It casts the victim in cement
Which gets hard as a sword.
Cutting into the victim, every moment.
It gets worse with time;
An unending pain
That's renewed with each line
Of a bully’s refrain.
Oh how they wish, in vain,
For it to stop!
They ask again and again;
Who will feel my pain?
Who will stop,
This painful rain
Of a bully’s refrain?
The law is of little help;
Since no one is prosecuted.
The school is even worse.
For I wallow unprotected.
At work no one seems to care.
After all, we are grownups.
So it goes undetected.
Regardless of my efforts,
It seems I can’t escape
The unending pain
Of a bully’s Refrain!
